 Katiesoft, Inc. was
founded in 1997 by Brian Duperrouzel and Angus Chassels. Brian and
Angus conceived and developed the original Katiesoft four-pane browser.
The original Katiesoft allows Internet users to view up to four
web sites simultaneously and to integrate with Windows applications.
Katiesoft also makes the Internet simple. With Katiesoft, the visitor
can more easily navigate around a single website.
Since Fall last of last year, the company has put in place ambitious
plans to leverage core Katiesoft technology and to develop new technologies
and business solutions.
CNET has described the current version of Katiesoft as "A must-have
surfing tool". MSN called it "A Fantastic Tool" and PC User declared
it "An essential tool for the Internet".
Andrew Brown, formerly with Bain & Company, was hired as President
and CEO in November of 1999. In just a few short months, Mr. Brown
has built a management team and strategic advisory board of experienced
Software and Internet industry professionals.
Katiesoft, Inc. received key angel funding from William R. Hambrecht
of the investment firm WR Hambrecht; Mike Seashols, a long-time
Silicon Valley leader and entrepreneur; and Dave Parker, a 20-year
veteran of Silicon Valley software business development.
Katiesoft recently announced the addition to its strategic advisory
board of Steve Weiss, a managing partner of Grey Heron, and Madeline
Kirbach, formerly a Group Business Development Manager for Microsoft.
Having just finished a successful round of funding, Katiesoft is
poised to re-launch itself with the next-generation version of its
core product and soon-to-be-announced products and services targeted
to businesses. Katiesoft will provide technology-driven solutions
to businesses to improve customer retention and acquisition.
The new version of the Katiesoft web browsing tool will be released
as an unlimited public beta at Internet World in Los Angeles on
April 3rd, 2000.
Katiesoft, Inc. has recently relocated its corporate headquarters
to accommodate its rapid growth and is located in the South of Market
area of San Francisco.
Andrew Brown, President and
CEO of Katiesoft, is responsible for the day-to-day direction and
management of the company as well as developing strategic partnerships.
Prior to joining Katiesoft, Mr. Brown was with Bain & Company for
over ten years, in the U.S. and in Europe. While at Bain, he focused
on corporate strategy and large-scale implementation programs for
leading technology companies ranging in size from pre-IPO to Fortune
500. Mr. Brown has focused primarily on technology businesses, including
computer hardware, software, telecommunications and medical technology.
Mr. Brown holds a Master of Business Administration from Harvard
Business School.
Brian Duperrouzel, Co-founder and CTO of Katiesoft, has been
chiefly responsible for designing, creating and developing the software
platform that enables Katiesoft. Mr. Duperrouzel continues to oversee
development of the Katiesoft software platform and technology. Prior
to co-founding Katiesoft, he served as a software consultant for
several Silicon Valley based companies, specializing in Web based
ERP solutions. Mr. Duperrouzel holds a Master of Arts and Bachelor
of Science degree in Economics from State University of New York
at Albany.
Bill Sugino, Vice President of Sales for Katiesoft, brings
with him over fifteen years of enterprise software and Internet
experience. Prior to joining Katiesoft, Mr. Sugino served as a founding
member of Yardi Systems Inc., where he led and managed all sales
initiatives with Fortune 500 companies. At Yardi Systems, Mr. Sugino
was largely responsible for the early adoption of Internet enabled
technology by enterprise customers. He has managed relationships
and headed liaisons with key industry influencers and has given
numerous keynote addresses at high-level industry conferences and
tradeshows.
Angus Chassels, Co-founder and Technology Evangelist of Katiesoft,
is responsible for communicating the technology vision of Katiesoft
as well as overseeing day to day usability, compatibility and performance
testing. As a co-founder, he was responsible for early Katiesoft
development and marketing efforts. Prior to co-founding Katiesoft,
Mr. Chassels served as a systems consultant in the international
shipping field. Mr. Chassels holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from
Bard College, New York.
Eric Hansen, Vice President of Marketing for Katiesoft, brings
eleven years of marketing and product management experience with
internationally recognized brand name and technology driven companies.
Prior to joining Katiesoft, Mr. Hansen served in a consulting role
where he led the development of the strategic product plan for Clorox.
Prior to Clorox, Mr. Hansen was a Business Development Director
at Johnson & Johnson where he initiated the development of strategic
sales and marketing partnerships as well as serving as Product Director
for New Products and the Tylenol brand. Mr. Hansen has also worked
in Brand Management for several years at Proctor & Gamble and as
a Software Sales Engineer for Orcad. Mr. Hansen holds a Master of
Business Administration from Yale School of Organization and Management.
Anton de Young, Director of Product Development for Katiesoft,
brings over twelve years of project management and technical writing
experience. Prior to joining Katiesoft, Mr. de Young was at Microsoft
for eight years as a Project Manager and Technical Writer within
the Applications and Tools Group. He was instrumental in shipping
16 Microsoft products, including Visual Basic and Visual Studio.
He was also a key participant in moving Microsoft's documentation
online. Additionally, he served to develop and evangelize online
documentation production tools and processes for Microsoft.
Mike Seashols, Katiesoft Chairman/investor, Silicon
Valley leader and entrepreneur. Mr. Seashols has effectively built
many companies up to and past IPO stage. Mr. Seashols was a key
contributor to the IPO development of Oracle Corp., Versant, and
Documentum.
William R. Hambrecht, Katiesoft Board member/investor, co-founder
of Hambrecht & Quist, is the Chairman of WR Hambrecht + Co. He is
a Managing Member of WR Hambrecht + Co, Mr. Hambrecht heads Corporate
Finance at the firm.
Dave Parker, Katiesoft Board member/investor, CEO of Enlighten
Software, is a 20-year veteran of Silicon Valley systems and software
ventures. Previously, Parker was President of WebLogic and a founder/executive
of Quintus Corporation and IBM.
Steve Weiss, Katiesoft Strategic Advisory Board member, co-founder
and Managing Director of Grey Heron, LLC. Mr. Weiss is a twenty-year
veteran of the high tech industry and currently serves on the board
of advisors for both 800.com and WeTalkNetwork.
Madeline Kirbach, Katiesoft Strategic Advisory Board member,
Partner at Prevailing Wins, LLC. Ms. Kirbach has led marketing
and business development efforts at Microsoft and has developed
Internet business strategies for companies including Priceline.com
and Zagat Survey.
